In the original Generation One cartoon, Cosmos never really did a whole lot of anything bar fly about in space and occasionally crash into whatever planet lay beneath him. But, as of late, he's been given a bit of a spotlight in the IDW comics, and he's proven to be an interesting character, so today I've decided to look at his most recent figure
Cosmos was released as part of the first wave of 2013 legends figures alongside Swerve. This marked his first update since around 2009, when he had a legends figure in the Universe line. But, as standard, Cosmos transforms into a miscellaneous UFO. There's not a whole lot to say about this, to be honest
The yellow engines and green fin on the back are a nice touch, as are the little panels sticking out the sides. I think they add to the alien look of his vehicle mode quite nicely. The blasters on the front also look pretty good, especially in that gun-metal grey paint

In robot mode though, he's such an expressive figure. The yellow and green on his body contrast each other nicely, and the red paint on his head helps it to really pop. His head sculpt is rather simple, but it evokes Cosmos really nicely
I'm also particularly fond of how his arms and lower legs look as a result of his transformation and alternate mode. They've got a really unique look to them, a shape you don't often see on a Transformers figure. The molding on his chest is also quite nice, introducing some dark blue into the fold. I think this evokes the original Generation One toy more than anything, but I could be wrong
I also like his giant molded fists. Cosmos is typically a very bored and chilled out character, so the thought of him throwing punches with those big hands of his is very amusing to me. I know, I'm sad

As far as pose-ability goes, this guy is pretty damn great for a legends class figure. He's got ball joints in his shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees, hinges in his mid-shin (what a term), and a swivel in his waist, upper biceps, and neck. As a result, you can get some really great poses out of Cosmos, making him a really expressive figure
For weapons, like all the Generations legends from the 2013/2014 era, Cosmos comes with a little Micromaster-slash-Targetmaster partner called Payload. Payload is based of the 1990 Micromaster Blast Master, but isn't named such due to copyright reasons. He has three modes - a robot mode, a shuttle mode, and a gun mode
None of these modes are particularly distinct from one another. Robot mode is shuttle mode stood up and with his arms flipped up a little, shuttle mode is robot mode lying down, and gun mode is robot mode with the 5mm peg in his chest folded down. As a weapon, I think he's definitely the laziest of the Micromaster partners from the Generations line, but his shuttle and robot modes are kinda neat

To summarise, Cosmos was a figure I originally had not intention of getting when he was first released, but I'm glad that I eventually decided to bite the bullet about three months ago. He's got a lot of character to him, and is easily one of the best legends figures from that run of the Generations line. His Micromaster partner isn't too bad either. I'd definitely recommend picking him up if you can still find him for a decent price
